What happens during a first visit?
During your pet’s first visit, a veterinarian will perform a thorough physical exam, discuss any concerns you may have, and answer questions about your pet’s health, behavior, nutrition, and preventive care. This appointment also helps us begin building a care plan based on your pet’s individual needs.
Do you provide microchipping?
Yes. Pet microchipping is available as a simple, reliable way to help identify your pet if they are ever lost. If you would like to add a microchip during your pet’s appointment, let our team know.
Do you treat exotic pets?
Yes. We provide exotic animal veterinary care for a variety of species, including birds, reptiles, tortoises, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other pocket pets. Exotic pets often have unique needs, and our team works to provide thoughtful, species-appropriate care.
What does this mean for emergencies or urgent visits?
In emergencies or urgent care situations, your pet may already be feeling more stressed or anxious. We will still use our Fear Free approach to make the experience as fear-free as possible, but we will always prioritize your pet’s safety.
Do you offer diagnostic testing?
Yes. We offer diagnostics and lab work to help evaluate your pet’s health, investigate illness, and monitor ongoing conditions. This may include blood work, X-rays, ultrasound, and other testing depending on your pet’s condition.
Do you see urgent cases?
Yes. We offer urgent care during our regular business hours for pets who need timely medical attention for issues that should not wait for a routine appointment.
If your pet is experiencing a sudden health problem, call us so we can help determine the next best step.
Do you provide emergency vet care?
We provide emergency vet care during business hours for pets with serious or urgent medical concerns. Some severe or complex cases may need referral to a specialized emergency facility. If your pet is having an emergency, call us right away so we can guide you appropriately.
What does fear-free care mean?
Fear-free care means we do everything we can to reduce stress, anxiety, and discomfort during veterinary visits. This may include gentle handling, minimal restraint, calm communication, and thoughtful adjustments to help pets feel more comfortable and supported.
Do you offer end-of-life and euthanasia services?
Yes. We provide compassionate end-of-life care, including quality-of-life guidance, palliative support, euthanasia services, and cremation services. Our team is here to support pets and families with empathy, dignity, and respect during difficult times.
What payment options do you accept?
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. We also offer financing options through CareCredit.
How should I bring my pet to the hospital?
For safety and comfort, we recommend that dogs be kept on a leash and that cats and other small animals be transported in secure carriers.

What does this mean for my pet?
A Fear Free visit may look a little different from a traditional veterinary appointment. You might be asked questions about your pet’s previous experiences, and receive guidance on preparing for the visit. We encourage you to bring favourite treats, toys, or bedding. The veterinary team may move more slowly, allow breaks, or adjust their approach based on your pet’s comfort level. If a pet is becoming overly stressed during a visit despite our Fear Free approach, we may decide that the best thing for them is to adjust our plan. This may involve rescheduling the appointment, possibly with medications to help with anxiety if needed.
What can I do to help give my pet a more Fear Free experience?
Fear Free starts at home. By helping your pet feel comfortable with carriers, car rides, handling, and the veterinary experience before the appointment, you’re setting them up for a calmer, more positive visit. For example, if your cat only sees the carrier before being taken to the vet, they will learn to associate the carrier with stressful experiences. This may make them more stressed before they even enter the clinic, and will make it harder for you to place your pet in the carrier overall. Leaving the carrier out in a high-traffic area (like the living room) with a soft, comfortable bed inside encourages your pet to see the carrier as a safe place and makes the transition easier on them.
